Hello everyone and welcome to the first edition of the Motion Health Newsletter.
This publication will highlight various topics included in the curriculum at Motion Health Institute.
Our current classes include the Wu Style Tai Ji Quan 37 Postures form developed by Great Master Wang Pei Sheng along with
further education in Nei Gong and Qi Gong. In the very near future we will be adding Yoga classes to our schedule.
The biggest news for this edition is the grand opening of our beautiful new facility in West Palm Beach. We have been
working very hard to get everything ready and are excited to welcome our current and incoming students.
Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter. I hope you find at least one or two useful "nuggets"
to help you attain a more balanced and healthy life.

| What is Tai Chi? |
|
Tai Ji Quan, popularly referred to as "Tai Chi" is the most widely known of the Internal Arts of ancient China.
In Tai Ji Quan, like negative and positive terminals support the flow of electricity,
Yin and Yang cooperate to support the flow of vitality - a balance between mind and movement,
between stability and flexibility. A series of ideas leads to a series of feelings; thus movements,
comfortable and natural for adults of all ages, are expressed correctly from within. Beginning slowly,
deliberately, calmly and quietly, then gradually more fluently and freely, the practicing of Tai Ji Quan
synthesizes mental development, develops vitality exercises, and integrates practical skills of balance with subtle martial
arts of the highest level.

This issue's Tai Chi Health Corner is an excerpt from a chapter in "Wu Style Tai Ji Quan" by Wang Pei Sheng. The chapter
is entitled "How to Practice Tai Ji Quan to Attain Super Health and Longevity - Teachings of the 98 year old famous Master Wu Tunan."
In this chapter Master Wu Tunan is being interviewed. This excerpt is one of the more significant portions of that interview.
Interviewer
So you're saying that it is not just the practice of Tai Ji Quan, but the persistent and correct practice which leads to super health
and longevity. Is that correct?
Master Wu
Precisely so. But I must add: by persistence, I mean life-long persistence. By correctness, I mean full accordance with the
fundamental principles set in the Tai Ji Quan classics.
Interviewer
Such a high standard is very hard to attain.
Master Wu
Yes, and no.
It is certainly hard for the skeptics and the half-hearted. These often quit after having missed a few lessons, or upon finding their
movements still awkward after little practice. But those who are serious in their pursuit of super health and longevity,
and who realize they are indeed attainable and therefore determined to spend the necessary time and effort required. They
are usually attentive to their instructors and sensitively aware whether they follow the instructions faithfully or not.
Generally, after learning and practicing in such a manner for several months, the movements of these students become much more
coordinated and flowing, their health noticeably improves. The hour or so of daily practice becomes a time of joy, relaxation
and self-achievement. Persistence then is no longer a problem. The only issues are how to make the best possible
progress in keeping with age, constitution, time available for learning and practicing, and the finding of a good
teacher and good practice companions.
